Welcome To Our Sunday School Page                                                    Donna Rettle -  our SS  Supt.

                                           "Christmas Journeys"

This month our Sunday School classes will prepare for our Christmas Program as we study

Matthew 2 and Luke 2:1-7.

We will be exploring the journeys of Jesus and his family in his early life: The Journey to Bethlehem, The Journey of the Maji, The Journey to Egypt and the Journey to Nazareth.

We will discover the reasons for the journeys as well as how we imagine Jesus’ family made these transitions. Christmas Journeys will also give us the opportunity to see connections between our lives and the human life of Jesus.

We will also explore some traditional stories taken from Swedish, French, Russian and Mexican legends whose roots were from the story of Jesus’ birth.

Do the stories of St. Lucia, Las Posadas, Babushka and The Juggler of Notre Dame sound familiar?

We are preparing a program of stories and music to present to you in our beautiful new sanctuary, accompanied by our majestic organ. Our journey to Christmas is already filled with promise!

Please join us as we present:    "Christmas Journeys" in the Sanctuary followed by a Potluck Dinner in the Parish House.

Again remember:  because of the snow storm, the program will be presented on Sunday, December 27 at 10 AM with a potluck

lunch after the service.

If you would like to prepare something to share for dinner that evening please call or email Donna Rettle at 718.720.4114, donnarettle@aol.com

Our Sunday School Classes begin at 9:00am at our Worship Service in the Santuary and continue at the Parish House for our lessons at about 9:30 AM.

Students will be "reunited" with their parents at the Parish House at 10:15am.

  • We invite children from Pre-K to High School.
  • We learn about God's love and his gifts.
  • We share faith, fellowship and fun.
  • While your child(ren) are attending Sunday School parents are invited for coffee and fellowship
either at the Parish House or the Conference Center.

We had a VERY enjoyable
and successful Easter Egg Hunt.

This year, we needed to shift to "Plan B"  as rains altered our plans from an Outdoor Event to an Indoor Event. There were eggs galore, crafts, and music, but the hunt took place on the three levels of the Parish House.
The 11 AM Hunt was "sold out" and the 2 PM hunt was well attended, and, as is said of many events such as these, inspite of the weather and the change of plans, "a good time was had by all."

Our thanks to everyone who assisted in making this year's hunt another success.  Plans are already under way for The Greatgames, a clown, music and more. We're looking forward to another great Egg Hunt Express, tentatively set for April 3rd, 2010.

PS - Our thanks to Pam Kelter for her pictures!
